EU Parliamentarians from 19 countries sign statement against farm murders in SA<\/b><\/p>\n
Forty<\/span> eight members of the<\/span> European<\/span> Parliament<\/span> from<\/span> 19<\/span> member states<\/span> have condemned the<\/span> murders of<\/span> white farmers<\/span> in<\/span> South<\/span> Africa<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n An initiative by<\/span> Messrs<\/span>. Philip<\/span> Claeys<\/span> (<\/span>Vlaams Belang,<\/span> Flanders<\/span>), Andreas<\/span> M\u00f6lzer<\/span> (<\/span>FP\u00d6, Austria<\/span>) and<\/span> Fiorello<\/span> Provera<\/span> (<\/span>Lega Nord<\/span>, Italy<\/span>) lead to a statement of protest in the<\/span> European<\/span> Parliament<\/span> against the<\/span> wave<\/span> of farm murders<\/span> in<\/span> South<\/span> Africa<\/span> in which more than thousand<\/span> farmers<\/span> have been murdered<\/span>. The<\/span> statement<\/span> raised special<\/span> concern about<\/span> the<\/span> meticulous<\/span> way in which<\/span> farm attacks<\/span> are planned<\/span> and executed<\/span>, and<\/span> urged the<\/span> South<\/span> African<\/span> government<\/span> to implement measures to<\/span> ensure the safety<\/span> of<\/span> its<\/span> farmers<\/span>.<\/p>\n The<\/span> statement<\/span> was signed<\/span> by 48<\/span> parliamentarians<\/span> from<\/span> 19 European<\/span> Union<\/span> member states<\/span> and<\/span> is representative<\/span> of<\/span> 7 different<\/span> political<\/span> groups<\/span>, including<\/span> socialists<\/span>, liberals<\/span>, Christian<\/span> Democrats<\/span>, independents<\/span>, nationalists<\/span> and<\/span> even<\/span> a<\/span> member<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> communists<\/span>. European<\/span> Parliament,<\/span> Philip<\/span> Claeys<\/span>, said in his<\/span> response to<\/span> his<\/span> initiative<\/span> that<\/span> the protest<\/span> against South<\/span> African<\/span> farm<\/span> murders<\/span> crossed country<\/span> and<\/span> party<\/span> boundaries<\/span>. Only the<\/span> Green<\/span> Movement<\/span> did<\/span> not<\/span> sign<\/span> the<\/span> motion<\/span>, and according to<\/span> mr<\/span>. Claeys<\/span>, thus approved<\/span> the<\/span> killing of<\/span> farmers<\/span> in<\/span> South<\/span> Africa<\/span>.<\/p>\n This<\/span> motion<\/span> follows<\/span> barely<\/span> a<\/span> month<\/span> after<\/span> TAU<\/span>‘SAs Assistant<\/span> General Manager<\/span>: Communications, mr. Henk van<\/span> de Graaf<\/span>, was the guest a<\/span>t a meeting<\/span> in the<\/span> European<\/span> Parliament<\/span> in Brussels,<\/span> during which<\/span> he explained the<\/span> problem<\/span> and extent<\/span> of farm<\/span> murders<\/span> in South Africa.
