\u201cThe focus of the government of national unity on inclusive growth and job creation is valuable, but we are concerned that real challenges, such as corruption and mismanagement, are not truly being addressed,\u201d says Bennie van Zyl, General Manager of TLU SA. \u201cHow can we believe that this budget will genuinely bring change if there isn\u2019t a clear strategy to eradicate corruption and cadre deployment?\u201d<\/p>\n
The minister’s proposals for building a capable, ethical state are good, but TLU SA asks: What specific steps will be taken to address the challenges in local government? \u201cMany municipalities are already struggling with financial management. How will the government ensure that these issues are really resolved?\u201d<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the expected economic growth rate of 1.1% for 2024 is disappointing. \u201cWhat are the plans to improve this growth and create a real environment where the private sector can invest with confidence?\u201d Van Zyl asks.<\/p>\n
TLU SA has always advocated for a stable and predictable business environment that supports agriculture. \u201cWe urge the government not to rely on fine words alone, but to take real action that will advance agriculture and the broader economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
