TAU SA not involved in behind closed door conversations with the ANC

TAU SA took notice of the planned meeting between the ANC leadership with Afrikaans groups to discuss ways for those Afrikaans groups to co-operate with the ANC. TAU SA feels more connected to the Afrikaner group and the values they stand for.For some time TAU SA is trying to get into contact with government leaders to discuss agricultural issues. In this regard TAU SA has asked for meetings with the country’s president, and similar attempts were made to obtain appointments with the Ministers of Water Affairs, Transport and Police as well as the Commissioner of Police. During those discussions TAU SA want to deal with problems that farmers experience.”Our efforts to get any appointment were fruitless so far. This creates inevitably the perception within organized agriculture that Government is insensitive for the farmers and their problems. The ANC can only blame himself if any alienation resulted and the only way to start resolving this problem is by starting to comply to the criteria of a responsible government. This will be the first step to restore confidence,” said TAU SA president, mr. Louis Meintjes.”As long as government is not prepared to talk to us on agricultural matters, we are really not interested in behind closed doors conversations with any ANC role players. Doing so would alienate TAU SA from its own members. TAU SA’s primary purpose is to act on behalf and to the benefit of its members and the agricultural community in general, “said Mr Meintjes.
