This document sets out the acquisition, use, storage and destruction of personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, Act 4 of 2013 (POPI).
TLU SA
The TLU SA is a confederation of service delivery organisations that addresses the interests of the farmer and his needs. The standing committees aim to formulate views, launch actions, provide guidelines and address issues and needs at all levels.
The TLU SA is the stronghold of the farmer and is based on Christian values.
VISION
The TLU SA is an organisation that strives to guide the member’s interests positively on his entire life journey.
MISSION
TLU SA’s mission is to create a safe and prosperous environment for its members in which they can produce food and fibre unhindered to make a positive contribution to the country’s economy.
PURPOSE
TLU SA’s aim is to negotiate on behalf of the commercial farmer to keep him safely and sustainably on his land.
PERSONAL INFORMATION
TLU SA collects the following personal information:
Title, full names, surname, ID number, contact details, banking details, description of land, size, district located, products used for farming and occupation.
This information is mainly used for keeping the membership register and identifying members. If further information is requested, the purpose will be revealed.
Information will be obtained from members and used as directed.
Information is stored for purposes of statistics, and determination of needs to improve service delivery to members, and furthermore for combating fraud, money laundering and criminal offenses. Information is obtained through direct questions, interaction with social media, websites, mobile phone apps, third parties and interaction.
INFORMATION IS PROCESSED
When required for contracting, action for legal obligations, legitimate promotion of interests and assessment of performance.
STORAGE
All information is stored electronically and secured with unique software and passwords. Offices are double-locked when staff are absent, access control is in place during office hours, and restricted staff are granted access.
FOREIGN APPLICATION
In the event that any application takes place outside the RSA, it will be in compliance with the relevant law and in terms of confidentiality clauses in agreements.
RIGHTS
Personal information regarding the person whose information it is can be obtained by that person. The person concerned may update this information or request that it be destroyed.
