TLU SA proudly handed over handheld radios to Dr André Hattingh and TJ Marais from the 911 motorcyclists for the On Trac-Tor Charity tractor journey to assist with communication during the 2 500km long trip. The radios and airtime, as well as any repairs, are sponsored by Halo, SAPIS, and RCT Ermelo.
“It is only right that we contribute to the safety of this remarkable team as they do so much to raise awareness about farm attacks,” said Hugo Pretorius, Chairman of TLU SA’s Safety Committee and the Eastern Cape region. “As farmers, we are familiar with the dangers in remote areas, and therefore we wanted to ensure that the team stays connected and safe on the road.”
The tractor journey, on a Mahindra 86-110 tractor, is undertaken to benefit medical treatment for children and raise awareness about farm attacks, spanning five provinces. The team departed from Witrivier, Mpumalanga, on Sunday, 2 July, and aims to finish there again on 15 July. It is a challenging journey at 26km per hour in a tractor seat.
TLU SA encourages people to support this journey through the following methods:
• Sponsor Dr Hattingh per kilometre he rides on the tractor.
• Make a one-time or monthly donation.
• Support the team on the road.
• Donate baby milk (all types).
• Donate diesel for the trip.
• Become a volunteer at Pediatric Care Africa.
All donations qualify for an 18A tax certificate and can be issued to individuals or companies. Contact Surika van der Merwe at 076 756 6155 or visit the website.
