Stand together to protect responsible firearm ownership
Every South African has the right to have their voice heard when proposed legislation could have a direct impact on their safety, their family and their future.
The proposed amendments to the Firearms Control Act could have far-reaching consequences for law-abiding firearm owners, farmers and rural communities. TLU SA has therefore launched this campaign to mobilise public support against the proposed amendments and to demonstrate that South Africans will not remain silent when decisions with such significant implications are being considered.
What is being proposed?

- Stricter requirements for lawful firearm ownership.
- The possible classification of certain firearms as prohibited firearms.
- Stricter provisions where a firearm licence has expired.
- Mandatory additional administrative and ballistic procedures.
- Stricter requirements for hunters and sport shooters.
- Amendments to existing firearm categories.
Why is TLU SA concerned?
- Farmers and rural communities often live far from emergency services and police stations.
- Law-abiding firearm owners should not be penalised for the actions of criminals.
