Make work in 2022

The new year lies in wait for everyone. The question that everyone needs to answer is what will be the focus for 2022.

TLU SA calls on all South Africans to focus this year on implementing solutions and not wasting energy trying to constantly manage failures. Our country is caught up in the effects of a policy environment that has been destructive for 27 years and has diminished and even destroyed opportunities for people.

Some of the problems that are a reality include:

  • Ever-rising unemployment that is unsustainable.
  • Lack of economic growth causing further problems.
  • Social grants to 27.8 million residents where only six million must fill the tax coffers are disastrous.
  • Negative policy environment created by the ANC cannot produce any positive outcomes and will increase poverty.
  • Socialism and communism have failed worldwide, yet that underskirt hangs out far with the government because of its alliance with the SACP and Cosatu, and it creates no investor confidence.
  • Crime that is out of control with 60 murders a day, corruption tackled with soft hands, land grabs encouraged by certain inciting politicians, stock theft, etc. makes the country unstable.
  • Infrastructure is burned down, carried away or simply vandalised, making the functioning of a competitive economy impossible.

South Africans deserve better than what the ANC’s policy environment dishes up. Role players will have to actively take a stand and spend their energy working towards the future rather than constantly trying to manage the ANC’s failures.

Given all these realities, the producing commercial farmers are still continuously producing sufficient food for South Africans. With about 68% of our country’s inhabitants already urbanised, South Africa’s food producers must be treated as probably the biggest asset the country can own. A responsible government will not leave a stone unturned to make sure that the agricultural sector thrives.

The people of South Africa must realise that the ANC has painted itself into a corner with promises without performance and that it is under a lot of pressure for its survival. We should therefore not be surprised by the ANC’s actions in 2022. The saying after all goes, “An anxious cat makes anxious leaps”.

TLU SA proposes that the following be implemented as soon as possible:

  • Create own institutions, especially in the field of education and training.
  • Always expose the dangers of the irrational and dangerous policy environment.
  • Strive for maximum profitability on farms and create capacity.
  • Constantly put pressure on the government to properly handle the responsibilities it takes to govern.
  • Get clarity on what the government means by certain concepts, such as: transformation; does everyone understand what is really meant by that?
  • Each person must ensure that their voice is heard. Get involved with organisations you agree with and participate in collective bargaining.
  • Beware of following the stream thoughtlessly. The ANC’s current is heading for chaos.
  • Choices must be made around principles and guard against dealing pragmatically with every situation for the moment.

TLU SA realises that there are many other issues that also need our attention. Diverse organisations work in different fields. It is essential that such activities continue independently. However, responsible organisations need to start working seriously in a broad line to work together, each in its own field, towards specific goals. It involves activities in the fields of politics, welfare, security, economics, education, etc.

TLU SA reaffirms our absolute dependence on the Triune God and knows that God is, was and will be in control of the future. The responsibility of the believer is important in such times. So let us fully live out our cultural mission as received from the Word. This will give 2022 the necessary solidity to get the right answers at the right time.
