The Department of Water and Sanitation has deemed it
appropriate to now link racial quotas to water licenses.
The proposed amendments stipulate that water licenses will only be granted as follows:
Water consumption up to 500 000m³ and farms up to 500ha – 25% black shareholders
Water consumption up to 1 000 000m³ and farms up to 1 000ha – 50% black shareholders
Water consumption exceeding 1 000 000m³ and farms larger than 1 000ha – 75% black shareholders
