TLU SA hosted an insightful workshop on land claims today. Lynette du Plessis provided guidance and advice on all aspects of land claims, including the process, recommendation procedures, and how cases are managed by the state. Participants’ questions were addressed, and practical guidelines for handling land claims in the current context were discussed.
Land claims are an important and sensitive matter for farmers, as they not only affect property rights but also influence empowerment and the sustainable use of land. Equipping farmers with knowledge of the correct processes and their role within the legal and political framework is critical. The workshop offered participants the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to act responsibly and strategically in such sensitive matters.
The workshop addressed not only property rights but also broader issues surrounding empowerment and the handling of sensitive cases. Feedback from participants indicated that it was a very good and valuable workshop.
Du Plessis encourages all interested parties to attend future workshops to empower themselves, be aware of their rights, and act strategically in sensitive matters such as land claims.
The workshop was also conducted via Zoom, providing participants from across the region with the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and guidance. TLU SA emphasises the importance of vigilance and responsible engagement in sensitive issues such as land claims.
